This book, edited by D, Liu, P, Prinsloo, A Singh Kanwar, U. Kalim and Y. Zhang is open access, published by Springer.
It covers the concept of 'on-demand' learning within the TVET context.
There are 17 chapters beginning with an introductory chapter by the editors, explaining how 'on-demand' learning can be useful in a rapidly changing world. The emphasis is on TVET and lifelong learning, given that everyone has to continually learn not only for work, but also to support their communities and families.
Three more chapters follow to make up the first 'foundation and frameworks' section.
Following are five chapters around technologies and practices. Then 3 chapter centred around equity, access and inclusion.
Global case studies and models with 2 chapters follow. The book closes with 2 chapters on 'future directions' and a concluding chapter.
Overall, the case is well made with regards to the rationale and need for on demand learning. Some of the relevant technologies and systems (e.g. qualifcations) that will support on-demand learning are introduced. A few chapters provide deeper philosophical discussions on the topic. Overall, a good resource to think through what 'flexible learning' means and how equity and inclusion must also be at the fore front when designing the ways on-demand learning may be accessed.
